  • Whirlpool Washer won't spin to finish

Whirlpool Washer Type 113-01, model LCR7244HQO washes and rinses, but does not spin to complete the cycle. I would appreciate any suggestions as to what can be done.

What does it do instead? Stop right at that point (motor and timer too) or does the timer continue on to the end of the cycle just not spinning??

    Does it drain?

      Whirlpool Washer ...

Thanks for your prompt reply. The timer keeps going and it drains. It just does not spin. Thanks again.

Will it still agitate during the wash?

Yes, it agitates and seems to be working fine except that it does not spin near the end.
          Thanks,

            Good.

Can you hear the main motor (not the pump motor) running/trying to run when it should be spinning?

It's hard to tell over the sound of the pump, but it seems the motor is not on. I will run it again and listen more carefully. What is the diagnosis in either case, motor working or not working? Thanks very much.

Than there could be a problem with the lid switch not being activated, the electronic control or even the water level switch. I might look into the functioning of the lid switch first.

I ran it again and set it at minimum wash size. While agitating with about 1/3 the amount of water, it started filling it up. I stopped the machine and set it to drain-spin. I used a screwdriver instead of the lid and repeatedly pressed on the switch until the machine did spin and drain.

What does that tell us? The water level sensor?

                  Thanks for your help.

then I'd say its the lid switch - a nylon button may have worn. or the contacts inside corroded

If you have to fiddle with the lid switch to get it running, I would hazard a guess the problem is most likely in the lid switch or its actuation mechanism.

If the problem was in the water level control, I wouldn't expect any amount of fiddling with the lid switch to alter operation.
