  • How is this part called?->Microwave

The microwave is a Whirlpool, model: MC8130XAQ-0 and I would like to know how is this part called and if I can find it?

    *ignore the black parts.

The black parts are microswitches - the brackets they are mounted in are just brackets. Their usage I can't find any reference at repairclinic dot com - an appliance part supplier.

OK, I found these items. Both of the plastic housings are called LATCH BOARDS.
If you go to www dot appliancepartspros dot com and type in your model number and go to ALL parts, there's two no photo items for DOOR LATCH PARTS. Items #3 & #5 are latch boards. Whirlpool number AP3032865 and AP3032864 for these parts. Call their 800 number.

Yes, looks like the right ones, they are also at repair clinic dot com called latch board upper and latch board lower (page #5).
        Thanks for the help.

Before you order parts you should test these boards carefully.

In order to insure there can be no radiation leak Federal safety standards require that all microwaves have 3 or more micro-switches wired in series to prove the door is fully closed before the magnetron unit can switch on.

If you will examine those boards carefully you will see that it basically has a main body with movable plastic actuator rods or bell cranks that depress the button on the micro-switches. The micro-switches themselves are generally very rugged and seldom do we find a defective one.

The door of your microwave has little plastic fingers that depress the actuator rods when the door is closed. The actuator rods then depress the micro-switch proving that the door is fully closed. Understanding that there are small variations in production and the required tolerances for the door seal are extremely small, it then stands that the micro-switch brackets generally have at least one slotted screw mount hole to permit final tweaking of the position of the board. Quite often the boards are shifted out of alignment by the vibration of repeatedly opening and closing the door.

The only active component on those boards is the micro-switch, which can easily be tested with an ohmmeter. (See attached illustration).

If your micro-switches test ok, you should then examine the movable actuators carefully. If there are no broken parts on the actuators you should be able to re-install those boards then tweak their alignment on the movable mount until the micro-switches are all properly closed.

The switches are working fine, the problem is that the plastic actuator of the bigger board was completely damaged so a friend built a metal actuator, it worked for 6 months but then it stopped working. Check the attachment from my first post. The problem is with the latch board.
            Thanks for the help.
