Water Heater Problems

About a month ago my water heater wasn't making any hot water and I had to replace the thermocouple. Now I have no heat again. I tried readjusting the thermocouple again with no sucess. The exhaust is running, the pilot stays lit but the burner never kicks on.

Any ideas?

how did you originally adjust the thermocouple? the bulb should have the flame almost impinging in the flame.

the flame looks like it is divided in two. the thermocouple is supposed to be almost in the flame so it heats up.

Okay thanks, I will keep messing with it. Is it common for a new thermocouple to fail?

no a new thermocouple doesn't normally fail.

I readjusted the thermocouple and the burner fired up. I went down to check on it and there was water on the floor. Enough to worry me. What does that mean? That was about two hours ago. It hasn't done it since but its never done that before and it worried me.

Occasionally the T&P valve lets go and vents the pressure and "some" water on the floor. It then reseals itself. If it does it again replace the T&P valve.
