  • TV audio out

My friend got a couple of speakers...he checked them and they work OK...he then connected them to Audio out on his TV and got nothing ...does he need an amplifier..if so what type and size would be recommended

If he connected non-amplified speakers to the red & white audio out RCA jacks, they won't work. Yes, he probably needs an amplifier, as the audio out jacks are at line level. Just a cheap Radio Shack amplifier or a decent stereo amp will work. However, the line out jacks are not connected to the TV volume control, so he'll need a separate remote for the amplifier. Some high-end stereo receiver/amplifiers have this built in to their remotes.
