  • Halogen Lighting For Kitchen?

I love the looks of halogen lighting. Right now my kitchen has 3 fixtures that each have 2 60W Type A bulbs = 360W total. I want something that looks modern and I love the way halogens look. I was thinking for that main part I would get this...

Then over the sink I would get a pendant type with one halogen bulb. Maybe something like this (the clear type)...

Then over our small table I would get another identical pendant type with one halogen. Do you think this would provide adequate lighting? My kitchen is 14' X 8.5' with counters on both sides. The floor is white with specs of gray, the cabinets are a darker brown and the counter tops are light oak colored. Most of their fixtures have Halogen bulb GU10 35W reflector type. That is a common MR16, right? Could I replace them with 50W MR16s? Would the 35W ones provide enough light? Thanks

The first thing I'd be thinking about is the fact that halogen lights are "hot" so you don't want them pointed at any area that you standing might be close to, like a sink.
Other than that your kitchen is fairly small so I'd think from the pictures you have supplied it would be adequate lighting.
Just remember tho that with the three halogen light mounted in the center of the room and you standing at a counter top working you will create a shadow across the work area.
Little about a lot and a lot about a little.
Every day is a learning day.
