  • pop sound installing ceiling fan now no power

I installed a new ceiling fan with all the breakers off. when I turned on the switch i heard a pop sound. I tried to put the old ceiling light but there does not seem to be any power.
I checked the fuse box and turned that off on. the room has power at the outlets but the ceiling does not seem to have power. the wires don't show any signs of being burnt. i checked with my contactless voltage detector.

any thoughts what happened and how to fix?

It isn't uncommon for the outlets to be on a separate breaker from the lights. That way when an appliance plugged in trips the breaker your lights don't go off! Did you check all the breakers?

While installing a ceiling fan, you may hear a popping sound, which can be concerning. This often indicates an electrical issue, such as a short circuit or a blown fuse. After the sound, if the fan or the power to the entire room no longer works, it's likely that the circuit has tripped, or a fuse has blown to prevent further electrical damage. In this situation, it's important to first turn off the circuit breaker or disconnect the power supply to the fan.
