  • floor noise?

Some area on the third floor will have noise when I stepped on it. The reason for this I think is because the subfloor is not nailed into the Joists strongly. Since 90% of townhouse/single house use wood as major material. I assume this is normal. Did I guess this right?

I'd tend to agree with you. There are special screws to use for this purpose. They appear as two heads on the same shank with a narrow neck between them. When the first head bottoms out beneath the carpet, then the neck snaps, leaving no protrusions. Finding the floor joists can be done with a regular stud finder, I'd expect. All of that can be found at a box store....

      Hi,

Why didn't I think I actually can purchase some specific nails and do it by myself? Thanks for the info.

Another question: how think is for the subfloor normally?
