  • Level floor via lifting with truck jacks

    Before I get started, I saw my neighbor do this but he didn't have an external chimney which I have two of.

    I just going out to start digging around the outer perimeter of the house side with the most settling and I saw the chimneys, "ohh, I forget about the chimneys!"

    1. 1949 typical OR logging company workers' house. Posts are on the dirt. No concrete, no pressure treated wood. My inspection sees no dry rot or termites.

    2. Talked to the neighbor a little. Talked to Lowes flooring guy who said he's done it to his house. Looked on the net and got a picture of what I have to do;

    Does the chimney have to be (disconnected) from the house/roof so it doesn't lift the metal roof?

    I was thinking about that liquid floor leveler but a few said not to do that. The floor drops from the center of the house to the outter perimeter. I'd guess the drop is about 1 to 3 inches. (maybe more).

    I actually don't mind the slope so much but
    1. I want laminate flooring and not carpeting
    2. I want to put in 2 big windows on the view side.
    so I should level things out first.

    I can post pics and more details if anyone answers this.

    Thanks a bunch!

    AL
