I wasn't sure where to post this query, this'll have to do!

I have beautiful, high baseboards throughout my home, and they are white, however, i don't want them to be white. My walls are dark, warm tones and I want my baseboards to be a "woodsy" colour, you know, I wish they were stripped and stained, however, I know if I tried to remove them to do this, I would ruin them. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can change the colour of my baseboards without removing them, or stripping and staining them? Are there any clever painting techniques out there for something like this?? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

You can make them look like real wood by applying a faux finish using a graining tool. I'd practice a bit using the colors you like on scrap first though. Here's a link that'll tell you lots about it.

This technique uses a graining tool to create a "false wood" finish. July 26, 2005
