  • Old Floors In Kitchen & Bathroom

My house was built in 1954. The main floor has hardwood in everyroom (carpet over it in master and living room). In the kitchen and bathroom there is vinyl self stick tiles. They are white with gray marble swirls in it. I don't really care for the look. I was planning on eventually (next winter) putting down ceramic tile. Then, I thought that maybe there is hardwood underneath the vinyl tiles. I was wondering if there was an easy way to check without damaging them in case there isn't? I kind of doubt there is but the rest of the main floor has them so who knows. If there isn't then I would like to leave the vinyl until I can afford the money and time to redo it with ceramic tiles.

You might consider pulling the refrigerator out and lifting a tile to inspect what you have. The missing tile would then be covered by the refrigerator thus out of sight , out of mind.
