I have a 25 year old gas central air heater that when the thermostat turns the furnace on works fine till it should turn off. The burners turn off but the fan runs for ever. Any Ideas.

You have a fan switch on your furnace that should be adjustable. I don't know if you have a Hon. round dial or cam stat. Can you send me a pic. of the fan switch. Take the covers off before you take the pic.Originally posted by kwiltsi View PostI have a 25 year old gas central air heater that when the thermostat turns the furnace on works fine till it should turn off. Normal setting when the fan switch is new is 120 degrees on temp. and 90 degrees off temp. So if the switch get old and weak you might have to turn
the off temp up. you might have to go to95 or more. If you have to go to 100
then you should move the on temp to 130.
I am a summing you have a clean filter and the blower fins are not plugged up.
Do you have good air flow? PaulLast edited by paul52446m; 01-25-2011, 10:50 PM.

I would check the filter and make sure the evaporator is clean as well. If you cant pull the ductwork out to check pull out the blower and shine a light up through the heat exchanger. If the coul looks clean then you are fine, if dirty needs to be pulled and cleaned
