I have a gas-log fireplace in the used home that i just purchased. It has a RobertShaw-Grayson 7000 series gas controller. My issue is that if I completely shut the glass doors to the fireplace, the unit shuts itself down after a few minutes. If i leave the doors open it will continue to operate, but heat enters the room. It seems to be something to do with the unit getting too hot inside with the doors shut, but I do not see a thermostat anywhere, I don't see a flu opening control (and the flu appears open). there is a grate in front of the flu opening. Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on?

First of all , if you are going to use a fire place , make sure you have a good tester for carbon monoxide When the glass doors are closed there should be airOriginally posted by robNTexas View PostI have a gas-log fireplace in the used home that i just purchased. slide shutters under the glass doors that need to be open. There should be a flue damper inside that should be open. Check the flue all the way to the out side to make sure its clear. It sounds like you are not getting burner air, or you have a plugged flue way. Also keep in mind that if the flue way is large
and the gas log does not produce enough heat to get a draft going up the
chimney. I have see some that work on clear days, but will not work on a rainy day when the air is heavy. It would be a good idea to have a pro come out and check it out, They can be very dangerous so don't use it with door open. Paul
