  • Problmes with New Rheem Gas Furnace

Last year, we installed a new Rheem Gas furnace ROTC-07ERBGS in a friends home. It was a horizontal installation and we purchased the conversion kit to have it accept Propane. The furnace would run for a bit, blow cold air and shut off. He used supplement heat whenever it wasn't running last season but that got rather expensive and he doesn't want to go that route again...after all this is a brand new furnace! The gas company has came out and checked the pressure at the tank and that was fine. What should the water column (pressure) at the valve be? We're going back over this afternoon in hopes of getting ir resolved before the cold weather sets in again! Any help or direction would be GREATLY appreciated! Thank,Tom

    heater

I'm only guessing but the water column pressure manometer reading should be around 11, up from the normal 6 psi. I have a monitor heater [propane] on the same 3/8" line going to my gas stove. the stove is also fed off the 3/8" line with a TEE.

Still having issues with Rheem RGTC furnace

Thanks for the info on the settings HeyZee518! The fella called and told us that he came home again to the furnace blowing cold air This is a brand new furnace and it's getting very frustrating! We installed a new limit switch but that didn't work either. The furnace will run perfectly for days and then he will come home and the house will be cold and he'll go down and hit the reset switch and it will run again. The code that was flashing was the rollover code. Any other ideas? We did notice that its missing the guard that goes across the top of the burners...would that do this? We've noticed all the other furnaces that he works on have a guard, but this one doesn't. Thanks!

The manual that came with the furnance will tell you what the pressure readings should be, There are plugs on the gas valve to check the pressure at the input side of the valve and the pressure on the burner assembly. You need to make sure the pressure readings are correct or you may be getting a flame out or the heater may build up with soot from incomplete combustion
