When the contractor mounted the vent hood to the wall, it only covers the back of the grill. So when smoke is coming off the front of the grill (which is usually the case) it doesn't go up into the vent hood, but instead into the ceiling of my screened porch. Shouldn't the vent hood be directly above the grill, rather than its location being defined by its placement on the wall? I just don't know if it should pull that smoke into the vent if it isn't directly above the grilling area. Have you ever seen a vent hood mounted to an extension of the wall, instead of the wall itself? Thanks!
