  • Functional replacement for GE 5KSP39HGW385S Blower Motor

    Hello all,

I am looking for a functional replacement for a GE 5KSP39HGW385S Blower or Condenser Motor. This is part of the HVAC system of a Trane unit. I'm having a bit of trouble finding a direct part correlation. I suspect that an exact match is not needed. Ideally the replacement would be:
    - 1/4 HP or greater
    - Single Phase 115V 60Hz
    - Clockwise Rotation
    - 1050 listed RPM or greater
    - does NOT require external Capacitor
    - 2 speed or greater (original was 3 speed)

Can anyone assist me with indentifying which class of motors will fit (ie: frame type). Is there a decoder for the GE part #? I see a fair number of motors for sale on eBay, Google, even Amazon. But I'm not 100% confident that a particular replacement will fit (no exact part # matches). The motor body diameter is 5 5/8", the shaft diameter is 1/2".

See attached image for a photo of the label and the mount assembly.

    Thanks,
    begleysm

Via some help on another forum I've identified some candidate parts.

    Won't let me post links...

    I've ordered 7E647 & 2MDV4 from Grainger.

I should have everything tonight and will post results.

Success!Got my Hub Puller in. Removed the old motor. Tested it. Acted up outside the housing too.Got the new motor in. Bench tested it. Seemed much better. It installed pretty easily. Needed some longer screws due to it having shock-mount grommets.Had to make a little holder for the Cap (didn't have on before). All in all, it went well.
