  • Propane tank distance...

I'll be replacing the existing leased propane tank with a purchased one soon. 500G. Existing location irritates wife. I'd like to set it further from the house. Existing is about 20 feet, proposed is about 80. The underground line will run west from the tank about 80 feet and then turn north for another 80 feet. Is that too long? Is the 1/2" copper line the only product to use? I see box stores have available gas line, and I have read the manual (about a year and a half ago...) and installed it for a gas dryer, but don't know if it can be used for under grade service as well as for propane use. Any suggestions?

1/2" copper with flare fittings is ok but I'd rather go with a coated product. there's no telling what the soil is made up of which may corrode the copper. 1/2" copper is a good choice for the length you state as the pressure is only around 5 psig.
