  • Furnace/heat pump compatability

Hello, I have a Rheem RHQA1220THPAHANDEF indoor air handler and a Ruud UPCA036JAQ heat pump. The air handler works fine but the Ruud is no good and I am curious if I can replace it with a new Goodman model CPLT48-1 without a large problem...I was told the old heat pump was a 3ton unit and that the new one is 4 is that correct and will it work?

The connection will need a modification from 3/4" to 7/8" I did notice.

    Thank you,

    Nic

You cant mix a 3ton coil and a 4ton outside unit,at all. Now Goodman that a builders model like Id look at a Trane Rheem or Lennox. Yes if you go to 4 ton you have to get a new coil also Trane now has a XL16i
That has a seer of 17.00 and a Hspf of 10.55 on the heat pump. yes if you go to a 4 ton you will have to put in bigger lines.
