A window ac unit was given to me, not very old. I think 5000 btu? It does not drip water while running, but does blow cold air. Filter is clean. I have not taken cawling off yet. Any suggestions.
It dont have to drip water to work right. If the humidity is not high you wont see water drip from them. The motor that blows in the room there is also the same one that blows out. On the fan blade that blows out it will sling the water up and on to the hot coil to cool it and get the water out, that way IT DONT DRIP.
As was stated previously, the amount of water dripping from an AC unit is directly proportional to the humidity. In addition, most window AC units have a ring attached to the outer tip of the blades on the condenser fan. As the fan rotates the ring picks up water in the condensate tray and slings it up onto the condenser coil fins. The purpose is to increase the efficiency of the condenser by evaporating the water. If your humidity is not too high the water slinger may be picking up the majority of the water, slinging it onto the condenser and it is being evaporated off the coil in an extemely fine mist thereby going unmost unseen.
