  • Building level space for under outdoor A/C unit?

There's only one logical place for the outside part of a central A/C unit to go by our house. In preparation, we need to build up a level platform (about 40"x40") for the unit to go on.

Half of that space is a raised outdoor flooring section and the other half, a small step down, is basically sidewalk material.

What would you recommend using to build up the sidewalk material part to the higher level? It has to be concrete or something solid like it, not wood. And we'll need something to seal it to the material below and at the side.

One quick option would be bricks (we have them, though would need a sheet of something relatively thin and solid to level it with the tile). Concrete blocks might fit (would need to measure to see).

And if you're going to recommend pouring something, would be helpful to know how long it takes to dry all the way through.

    Very many thanks!

Contact your local HVAC supplier, they have ready made concrete pads or plastic pads that are made for mounting AC units. You simply level and compact the subsoil, lay the pad in place and mount the Condensing unit on top. About a ten minute job.
