  • relocate cold air return

I have a 20x20 intake(only one in the whole house) on the living room wall directly behind the furnace. When the furnace kicks on it gets very loud. I want to move it by covering with sheetmetal and installing new intakes (atleast 3 though not that big)throughout the house. I will have to use ductwork preferibly the flex pipe stuff. Is that possible? Also to add one in the upstairs hallway I would go through a crawl space that gets cold; does that affect anything?

    Thanks

If its just the noise line the inside of the blower part with duct board. For better heat yes pick up the cold air all over, dont use flex pipe for it. Crawlspace is cold ????? We close up all of them 6 mil poly on the ground 2" or 3"polystyrene on all the walls up to the floor joist.A R-19 in the joist space just there on top of the sill plate all around the home. Use about 15% less fuel in test then insulation up in the floor joist, Go http://aboutsavingheat.com /crawlspace.html

I meant a crawl space above the the kitchen and living room. Enter through a hole in the garage. If not flex duct then what to use? Cold air return kit: http://www.llbuildingproducts.com/Co..._Prod_01.html#
