  • comfortmaker won't always ignite

my comfortmaker is about 5 yrs old with a electric pilot. about half the time the pilot will light, but it will not ignite. the blower will turn on, but with no flame, it will just blow cold air.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what the problem could be???

Also, I think this furnace has a diognostic panel. does anyone know how or where to get the tool/device to read into this panel????

    thanks in advance....

The ignitor is a carbon wire type with a variable resistance dependant upon heat. If it doesn't get hot enough to change resistance then the main valve will not open. Change the ignitor to a new one - runs about 50 bucks.

thanks... I also got the same advice from others, but unfortunatly a new igniter didn't fix the problem. Is it possible there is something blocking in the vents? I would appreciate any other suggestions

Did you check and clean around the pilot venturi. Some times a spider can get up in there .

I'm having the same issue. There's a blinkcode diagnostic LED on the controller. In my case, 3 blinks - intermittant pressure switch. I'm about to go home and rap it once...hoping it'll continue to work until I can get a part number off of it.
