  • Baseboard heat OR heater/fan ceiling combo?

I am converting a bedroom into a bathroom and am running ductwork (forced hot air sourced by gas)into it. My fear is that the room will not get warm enough (or I will want it hotter than the other rooms) in the winter. So in addition to the ductwork, I want a backup plan so I am thinking of installing a heater/fan unit on the ceiling OR installing a small baseboard heat with programable thermostat. Would one of these be preferable over the other? The room is just studs now so I want to do what I have to do now rather than when the room is finished. The room is 8x10 with one standard window facing due south. Not sure if there are any electric limitations with this as well.
    Thanks,
    L

In my opinion the fan/heater combo would be more practical because it offers a source of instant heat as opposed to the slow reation of baseboard.

Locate a wall mounted fan forced unit - BERKO heat, NUTONE or any familiar brands will work. Be sure to mount the wall pan between the studs securely and use a two pole breaker to feed it.

Thanks LazyPup and HayZee518... so they make plain old heater units that I can just put in the wall? this may be a dumb question but what is a two pole breaker? Also, I tried to find a heater/fan unit but can only find a heater/fan/light unit (at HD and Lowes). I don't want the light.. do they make just heater/fan units? And if I need to use a heater/fan/light, are there 3 switches associated with it I assume?

In most large communities you will have an electrical supply house that has a lighting showroom open to the public. In addition to lighting fixtures they will have showroom displays of all varieties of commonly used electrical fixtures such as heaters, exhaust vent fans, doorbells and such. Basically all the electrical fixtures that are built into a home. If you have access to one, that would probably be one of your best sources of supply, and given that they are also a commercial electrical supplier, they should have knowledgable sales people that can explain the physical or electrical requirements of each type of unit you may show interest in. That would give you opportunity to see your options and make a good informed decision.

Id go for the light vent fan and heater all in one there. I find that the people like them the best . You have a heat run in there now you said and this will give you the fast pick up.
