  • Thermostat off heat still on

Someone please help me. My thermostat is turned all the way the the left (off)Honeywell T87F model. Yet the furnace keeps coming on and heat is STILL blowing out of the vents. Its reading 80 degrees in here. Heating company cant come until next week. Mean time i am roasting my butt off .......HELP. Any suggestions on how to turn off the heat without shutting off the furnace?[^]

Do you have an off on the tstat? did you try it is the tstat cover pushed on the tstat wrong? Take R wire off at tstat see if that stops it last turn power off and on to furnace for now. check tstat wire to the furnace

T87 is a mercury bulb type tstat. Is it level? Did you just replace it? If just replaced sounds like the white wire is on yellow terminal Do what imeduc said. remove wire at tstat and if still on remove wire at furnace . Do not just turn power off without verifying burner has shut. (may be stuck valve)
