Hello, We have an 1800 sq ft house, have been told that we need a new heatpump. I agree with that part. What is really bothering me is the cost. Our home is in Birmingham,Alabama where it gets warm, like right now. We need a 3 ton the fellow tells us it will be 2800 for the unit a Goodman are they any good ? Please help as I am a woman and I know nothing of heatpumps.

That price sounds to low for inside and the outside of a new heatpump?? Goodman are like the bottom of the line. Get 3 bids for the job

Thank you for the info. We are just trying to see if we can make it thru the summer. The tech filled our unit with Freon, it has a few leaks but maybe we can wait, by the way what would be a reliable unit, name brand wise?

Thanks for the info. The reason the tech didnt fix the leaks , We need a new canister among a lot of things wrong with this unit it is rusted out, so we are gonna buy a unit online and hire a tech to do the installing. I am very thankful for the info about the Goodman. We are gonna see how long this Freon lasts (last year it lasted the whole summer so maybe we will be lucky, then if it stops cooling THEN we will order our unit, however we will not be using the Tech that wanted us buy the Goodman. Thanks again Pat

Be aware that as of January 1, 2006: 10 SEER energy rating units will no longer be available. Only minimum 13 SEER will be available, and they will cost a LOT more than a 10. If you are using a 10 now and accept that it costs more to operate, you should not delay too long getting a new one. If you do decide to upgrade to a 13, you will be happy with the energy savings,
