  • Hot Water baseboard to 2 zone?

Currently I have hot water baseboard heat throughout the house that is heated by a natural gas boiler. I have pipes that run to the 2nd floor for supply and return and a different set for the downstairs. Would it be possible to make this a 2 zone system. How much work and money would this cost me.

Given that you already have two separate piping systems it could be done as simply as installing thermostat controlled zone valves on each section, however, it is not good practice to restrict the output flow of a pump.

The preferred method would be to install two individual circulating pumps and zone valves with each section being controlled by a separate thermostate.
