Question on repairing Air Conditioner - self-evaporating

Hi I have a portable air conditioner that is a self-evaporating unit. It was working fine until 3 weeks ago when it started to fill up its water tank every 2-3 hours and shut itself off. Last summer I ran it for 3 months (not straight) and never had to drain it once.

I'm not exactly sure how this problem started but wanted to give it a go to try to fix it myself. I believe that the self-evaporating system is supposed to exhaust the moisture through the hot air exhaust.

If anyone has any tips before I crack the unit open I'd appreciate it!
