  • furnace works for a/c but not for heat

I'm hoping someone can help me out. I have a honeywell ct3200
digital thermostat and it turns my central air on just fine. The trouble starts when I try using the heat. I get nothing. The furnace just won't kick on when the heat is switched on. I tried replacing the batteries and I reprogrammed the thermostat but still nothing. Any ideas why my furnace thinks I only want to have cold air but not warm?

got to be something fouled up in the wiring of the "stat." feeds somewhere to the control relay(s) for heat or a/c.

We never touched any of the wiring and the heat worked fine up until the Spring when we last used it. I'm wondering if the thermostat is not working right anymore.

Try this; First, make sure the T stat is switched to "HEAT".
        Remove T stat front cover.
Temporarily "jump" wires R and W contact screws. This should power up the burner.
If the burner does kick in, this will tell you that the furnace controls, etc are ok, and the trouble is mainly in the Tstat.
Likely a bad contact on the "heat-cool" slide lever control
Then it would be "best" to replace Tstat.
let us know how you make out. Good luck.
