looking for good remote control thermostat

Hi! I am looking to buy a remote control thermostat. I got one from Home Depot but that stuff only works if you are five feet away and pointing the remote directly at the thermostat. Pretty useless. I want to be able to control the themostat from different levels of the house. Any recommendation is appreciated.
