    open & close

This may sound like a dumb queston, but not to me.
what is the diff. between ( open on rise )and ( close on rise ) on a thermodisc in a gas heater.
does open on rise mean i just cut my lights off or something like that.tks

close on rise- switch closes (allows current to flow)when temp rises and opens (no path for current flow) when temp drops. Open on rise would be the opposite.
