    Oil Furnace Chimney Flue

    I need to extend my oil furnace chimney flue about 4 inches to get it above the cement top. I was planning on using sheet metal to wrap around the end of the existing flue and then morter it in place. There will be a another cement cap 8 inches above the top to keep the rain and snow out.

    What material can I use for the sheet metal?

    STAINLESS (22 or 24 ga.) is best. Aluminum is very good, Aluminized steel is good, Galvanized steel will only rot out after a few years. Your local sheet metal fab shop should make up what you want very reasonable. Good luck, Hube
