  • oil furnace won't start

My oil furance will not start. I think it is the cad cell or the oil burner primary control that may not be working properly. How can I test for this? Thanks.

With the pump blower/ running crack open the bleeder and see if you have oil flow. if not check the fuel filter. if you have fuel, do you have spark? check the ignition transformer. if there is a sight glass in the burner wall look to see if there is a spark. if you have fuel and spark, is the nozzle clogged? replace the nozzle with the same number. The Cad cell merely proves the existence of a flame and keeps the burner control from locking out. The burner control starts the pump, blower and spark unit and basically keeps the burner on.

The pump blower won't even kick on.

ok, several things to check. - reset the circuit breaker if it's tripped. check to see that all doors are closed and any switches on the doors are closed. Reset the burner control button - red in most cases.
