Hello, I have a question regarding our furnace; techs have been here twice in the past two weeks, and seem to flip the switch.. wait a few minutes, flip it on, charge me $50 (LOL) and go on their merry way.. The problem is this: The motor runs, the flame does not come, nor does the blower blow. This furance is 5 yrs old, has had the ignitor switch replaced once ( 2yrs ago) Now, by trial and error, we've discovered that by fiddling with a set of wires that connects to what looks like a USB port, it both initiates the flame, and blows heat.. but we can't do this every time the furnace should kick in.. so, is there any use in having the tech come if they're just going to flip the switch? Or is this fixable? and if so, is it costly? thank you.. very informative site!!

Pull the plug on the furnace. Take off the wires that you "fiddled" with one at a time and clean their terminals and the tabs that they connect to with a peice of emory cloth or a small wire brush. It sounds like a bad connection to me.
