  • Easy issues?

I am trying to evaluate the HVAC unit in a home that I am trying to buy. Here are the issues:

    1) The evaporator coil and compressor are both visibly frozen.
    2) A couple of lines show frozen areas both inside and outside the house.
    3) Wrong size fuses installed in unit.

Any ideas on repair costs and/or reasons for these conditions?

Thanks in advance for the help,

    Dave

Could be low on gas, coils could be plugged up with dirt, Air filters plugged, blower not running up to speed or set on the wrong speed, so not moving enough air across the coil. They might have put larger fuses in because when it freezes up in pulls more amps and could be blowing the fuses. Testing needs to be done by a good tech. before prices for repair can be done.
If you fire up a air con. in a house where the temp is real hi and the humidity
is real hi, the system can freeze up even when every thing is in good shape.
Just because you have so much water running down the coil from hi humidity
that it slows down the air flow just enough to let it freeze. later Paul
