I have 1 room upstairs where the heat and air barely comes through the vent. all the dampers are open and I have inspected the duct work and hose but don't see
    any visible signs of damage.

should I try hiring someone to do a vent cleaning or do you think this is going to require someone with HVAC experience to go up and check the hoses again?
    expected costs?

    Hey there!

It’s great you already checked the dampers and ductwork, that rules out a lot of easy fixes. If the airflow is really weak in just one room, it’s likely more of an HVAC issue than just dirty vents. A cleaning might help a little if there’s a heavy buildup, but usually it points to something like a disconnected, crushed, or poorly sized duct, or a system balancing problem.

I’d suggest calling an HVAC tech for an inspection. Usually, a basic service visit runs about $75–$150 depending on your area. If repairs are needed, the cost would depend on what they find, minor fixes could be another couple hundred dollars, but bigger issues (like replacing or resizing ductwork) would obviously cost more.

    Hope that helps a bit!

If it’s only one room with weak airflow, it’s often something like a crushed section of duct or maybe an issue with how the system was originally balanced.
