  • monitor 441 flame jump, whossing sound

My monitor 441 flame jumps and makes a whossing sound when burner is on low headed to high and when going from high to low. when running on high it does not do it.
it almost acts like a drop of fuel is hitting bottom of burner and igniting.
any suggestions or ideas on what it could be?
    thanks

Maybe the burner mat is bad, sounds like its time to inspect the combustion chamber,

I would look at the solenoid damper. More than likely you will have to do the burner cloth and ring as well. Tom

I had had the unit rebuilt two years ago and when they rebuilt it they said they don't put the burner mat in any more.
i took it apart and did my usually pre season inspection / cleaning.
it started doing the flare up last spring.
        thanks

With out a burner cloth your stove will never run correctly. The fuel will puddle on the bottom and the flame will be very high in the pot. You must use a burner cloth on a M 441.

If you have FACEBOOK, type Monitor Heaters into the search bar and hit ENTER. There are several repair places that do Monitor motherboards.
