  • toilet tank fill valve

I had a toilet tank valve that fits in the palm of my hand. It was white and the only identification on it was FILLMASTER. I beleive it's the trademark. Has anyone seen one of these. They are fantastic and there was never a [roblem. I just can't find it anywhere.

    Harv...

Fillmaster and early model fluidmaster fill valves had the actual valve mechanism at the base of the valve which was under the standing water level in the tank.

In order to insure there can be no possibility of cross contamination between the standing water in the tank and the house potable water supply the codes now require the actual fill valve discharge port to be a minimum of 1" above the top of the tank standpipe. (International Residential Code 3105.1 & Uniform Plumbing Code T 10.1)

Most of the universal replacement fill valves such as Fluidmasters have a telescoping section that can be extended to raise the fill valve above the water line. This is a very important step that is often overlooked when installing replacement valves.

      Thanks for the response.

So the reason I can't find this valve is that there could be contamination of the watwer supply.

I bought a Fluidmaster at about the same time I bought the Fillmaster. The Fluidmaster is still working. I remember an old plumber teling me that I was wasting my money because these things don't work.

I opened the Fillmaster a few days ago. It's just a rubber diapragm with a thin metal ring around the edge and somehow it shut the water when the tank was filled. Maybe it was the weight or water pressure that would stop the fill process. Whatever. It was a great idea.
