    plumbers putty on pvc pipes?

ive got a leak from my kitchen sink. i was informed by my landlord that i need to add some plumbers putty. my question is i know pvc pipe is plastic. but the plumbers putty says it should not be used on plastic.

Where is the leak? Is the leak comming from beneath the flange in the bottom of the sink? Or is there a crack in the pvc piping that is connected to this flange?

Plumbers putty is only to be used to seal a drain flange to a sink or tub, to seal the base of a faucett set to a sink top, or to seal a sink to a countertop.

It is never used as a sealant on pipes or fittings
