New tub spout

I'm installing a new tub spout. I have to use a thread adapter/reducer so the spout will fit on the 1/2" supply pipe. I know I need Teflon tape on the supply pipe threads. Should I also put tape on the threads of the adapter before I screw it into the spout? Thanks for the help.

Three full wraps of the tape should be applied to all male threads
