  • Leak in fitting

I installed a Aqua-Pure anti scale filter on my humidifier line so the media pad doesn't scale over so fast. To get this installed I had to use several brass fittings. I put 3 wraps of Teflon on all & then tightened really snug. As my luck goes one fitting has a drippy leak. About one drop a hour. Should I redo this or do these really slow leaks eventually stop.

    Thank you,
    Fred

The Teflon tape may be your problem.

You did not mention what type of brass fittings you so here is some basic information that may help you.

Teflon Tape or pipe dope should only be applied to NPT(National Pipe Taper) thread joints.

Compression or flare fittings rely upon very closely machined tollerances to effect a tight metal to metal seal and pipe dope or teflon tape should never be applied to flare or compression joints.
