I have a 3" vertical PVC drain pipe that was pierced by a support bracket for a closet shelf system. The problem wasn't noticed until the upstairs bathroom had been used for a couple of months and mold became visible on the closet drywall.
The hole is 1/4" and do to the pipe's location against a wall stud the builder's plummer is planning on repairing it with what he calls "glue." I am not confident that this is a permanent solution to the problem and I am wondering what I should accept as a minimum standard for this repair. What options exist for this type of repair?
