I am redoing a basement bathroom. The current sink drains in to a lead pipe that comes out of the concrete slab. I want to instal a new vessal sink and do not want the drain to be visable . Can I break up the floor and replace the lead with PVC and then just run it up inside the wall ?

if your drains are still lead then chances are the main line drain is either cast iron or clay. if its cast iron the the lead is fastened in place with oakum and lead which will have to be removed. to put PVC in place you'll need a fitting called a DESANKO fitting which a beefed up pvc fitting that is oakumed and leaded or epoxied in place.
