  • Shark Bite End Caps - OK to use temporarily?

I am working on a master bath DIY remodel and will be replacing a tub. Will take me a few days (or longer, LOL) I'm sure to get it out, build the new deck, install the new tub, etc. So I'll need to cap off the water lines for it. My father-in-law brought me over some Shark Bite end caps to use and said they are great for that kind of thing since you don't have to solder them. Just push them on and then you can take them off with a tool.

Has anyone used these? Are they ok to use/reliable? I tried one on a spare piece of pipe and they seem to hold pretty tight. I just am a little nervous about putting them on and then coming home to a flood.

    Appreciate any comments!

They made me a little nervous the first time I saw them too. But they work. Some question how they will stand up over time, but I wouldn't hesitate for a temporary cap off. If you didn't already have them, I would say save $10 and solder some caps on.

They are great, I've never had one fail. In many cases they are about the only fitting you can use to convert from old gray PVC to PEX as well as CPVC to PEX transitions.
Little about a lot and a lot about a little.
Every day is a learning day.

Thanks, guys . . . I really appreciate the feedback. I went ahead and used them and they seemed to work like a charm! No even a hint of a leak. I'll keep an eye on them, but they were as easy to use as advertised.
