Thanks TinyTool, multi attempts gentle pulling. Pretty sure the plastic is locking the knob. Why is there no key to unlock it?

I’ve gone through the manual, and there’s no mention of a special key to unlock it. From the looks of it, the mechanism seems pretty straightforward. I think the only issue might be the aging plastic, it could have become too stiff over time. As for why there’s no key, it’s likely because the design relies on a simple snap-fit or hook system, which manufacturers use to keep things secure without adding extra parts. At this point, it might be best to have a plumber take a look and see if they can open it without damaging the locking mechanism.

Yes, thank you TinyTool. Yes, wife insists to leave shower control as it and live with it until it break. Then, will have to do this with next remodeling job. She implies I am not in the qualify list to do the job.

Sounds like you’ve been gently voted out of the DIY committee on this one. 🤭

If the shower is working fine and the next remodel is coming up soon, it’s probably best to just leave it as is.
