What size transformer would I need to power a 12 volt headlight from a car. I want to make a worklight of sorts with it. I know 12 volt of course, but what amp rating? I have one that is 12 vdc / 2 amp, is that enough?

.5 Kva buck-boost transformer 120 volt primary 12/24 volt secondary. the bulb doesn't care if its voltage is AC or DC. -
110 volt primary will do the job for you. Make sure that all the joins and wiring are correct and HayZee518 is right about the AC/DC, it doesn't matter much.Comment

sorry, this is a little late, but - find out the wattage of the lamp and divide it by the voltage applied, you'll get the total amps.Comment
