    Anyone use home cleaning services?

As the title says, I want to move to a bigger house but I work long hours and only just have enough time to keep up with the place I'm in and I really could do so with less work and more rest time. What should I expect from a house cleaner, with the exception of keeping the place de-cluttered should I be doing any housework at all? What would I expect to pay to keep a 5-bedroom house clean if I stayed in West Scotland?

When hiring a house cleaner for a larger 5-bedroom house in West Scotland, you can expect the following services:
      1. General Cleaning: A house cleaner will typically perform general cleaning tasks such as dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping all areas of your home, including living spaces, bedrooms, and common areas.
      2. Bathroom Cleaning: They will clean and sanitize bathrooms, including toilets, sinks, showers, and tubs.
      3. Kitchen Cleaning: Your cleaner will clean kitchen appliances, countertops, and sinks, and they may load/unload the dishwasher or hand wash dishes.
      4. Changing Bed Linens: House cleaners may change bed linens and make beds in bedrooms.
      5. Surface Wiping: They will wipe down surfaces, including tables, countertops, and other frequently touched areas.
      6. Trash Removal: Emptying and replacing trash bags in bins throughout the house.
      7. Optional Services: Some house cleaners offer additional services like laundry, oven cleaning, refrigerator cleaning, or interior window cleaning. These may come at an extra cost.
As for your role, when you hire a house cleaner, the primary expectation is that they will handle the bulk of the cleaning tasks. However, you may still need to:
      1. De-clutter: It's essential to keep your home relatively clutter-free to allow the cleaner to do their job effectively. Clearing personal items from surfaces and floors is generally your responsibility.
      2. Communication: You should communicate your specific cleaning needs and preferences clearly to the house cleaner so they can prioritize tasks accordingly.
As for the cost, house cleaning prices can vary depending on factors such as the size of your home, the frequency of cleaning, and the location. In West Scotland, you can expect to pay an average of £12 to £25 per hour for a professional house cleaner. A 5-bedroom house may require more time, so the cost could be on the higher end of this range.

It's advisable to obtain quotes from multiple cleaning services in your area to get a more precise estimate based on your specific needs and the size of your home. Additionally, inquire about any additional fees for special services or deep cleaning, if needed.

Good afternoon! I own a house cleaning service. Although I can't say what the rates are where you are located, I can tell you what what my company's prices are based on. In general, the prices for a good maid service is determined by the square footage of your home and the level of attention you personally require. Some maid services will charge an hourly rate for their cleaning services. It's hard to say what the final price would be without knowing the aforementioned criteria. Although, if you really wanted to limit expenses, you could decide the number of hours you'd like the maids to be at your house beforehand and ask them to leave once they've reached that threshold. The customer can expect to pay a flat rate based on their square footage and desired package type. This means our customers tend to know exactly what they will be paying before the maids ever arrive.

Now, should you do any kind of house work prior to your house cleaners arriving? That's completely up to you. I would say, if you want a speedy cleaning then some tidying up might be helpful. However, since house cleaning services make their money doing your cleaning for you, we tend to only ask for a good decluttering before we arrive. We don't want you doing our job for us after all.

A five-bedroom house in West Scotland will usually have more duties assigned to the house cleaning than just decluttering.

They will take care of a variety of cleaning duties, including vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and upholding general hygiene. Individual preferences do differ, though, so it's important to talk to the cleaner about your precise expectations.

Regarding your involvement, the purpose of hiring a house cleaning is to reduce your workload. Although organizing personal belongings is beneficial, you shouldn't feel pressured to perform more housekeeping.

I have for several projects around the house and outdoors. Download the Thumbtack APP and take a look at who you have locally. It's a great resource for whatever may come to mind.

A cleaner can make a huge difference if you’re short on time. As long as you keep things roughly tidy, they’ll handle the rest. In West Scotland, prices vary, but you’ll usually be looking at somewhere around £15–£20 an hour, so budget accordingly for a bigger house.
