  • How to remove Joint Compound ...

My daughter's cement block basement has joint compound on part of the wall's, as a textured effect. Sections have come loose and fallen. What is the easiest way to remove the rest? Sand it off? I need to remove it (and the paint underneath) to coat the block with Thoroseal.

    Thanks.

Can you scrape it off? Sounds like it didn't stick too well to that cement block anyway...

      Thanks for the welcome.

I ended up using a spray bottle with water in it to spray sections and let it soak in some, then was able to scrape it off OK. A little bit messy, but not too bad. Now I'm wire brushing the block to remove the rest of the residue and the effloresence so that I can put the Thoroseal on.Any other suggestions would be appreciated.
