Is your house wired with only 12 gauge cable or is there a combination of #14 and #12?

Believe it is just 12 gauge. Had thought about running PVC from a plug box thats mounted on my back porch in the brick.

I did some checking at the CARLON electrical box site and I cannot find a weatherproof pvc extension box which is what you'd need to install your conduit run. still, I'd figure you want the light switched from inside the house - correct? in this case what yer gonna need to do is bore a hole through the brick that will pass a piece of 1/2 inch pvc conduit into your basement space to a junction box. from here run a switch loop to one of your inside walls near a window or door for a switch and box inside the wall. the transition from conduit to inside the basement is accomplished using a pvc LB fitting with cover and gasket. outside pvc is run and fastened to the brick with anchors. the lamp box is a weatherproof round box with either threaded knockouts or solvent cement hubs for the conduit.
