Button must be held down for door to raise or lower

Door does not go up automatically. You must hold button down until door raises or lowers completely?

My first guess.
Check your safety sensor and make sure nothing blocking them. Also make sure they point straight with the door and in level.
What is the brand of your opener?

Your wall button or a button on the remote could be sticking. You might want to check that too.
