About 10 years ago I installed many railroad ties around the edges of my mfg home lot. After 10 years they all look good except one which has discolored to the point to where it looks like weathered cedar shake color (gray/white).. All of the others are still a deep brown/ black color. The option to replace this tie is not practical or a good one, SO... any ideas what I might do to restore some color to the railroad tie?

The deep brown black color is probably derived from either creosote or oil soaking, it was very common to soak the ties in creosote as a preservative. You may have one that either missed the soaking or didn't get as much as others. Try pressure washing it and then sealing it (when dry) with a wood sealer. Still it's going to be a hard path to make it look the same as the rest, soaking in creosote or oil us strictly prohibited nowadays.
