Kitchenaid dishwasher stuck on cancel cycle

I have a 6 year old Kitchenaid dishwasher (Model KUDR24SEBL3)that immediately runs the cancel cycle when you press the start key. When the dishwasher starts, the cancel LED immediately illuminates and the dishwasher runs the drain pump for several minutes and then the dishwasher stops. Pressing start again wil cause the dishwasher to run the cancel cycle again.

The Cancel switch operates freely, and isn't mechanically stuck.

I thought the float switch might be a problem (possibly the dishwasher was erroneously detecting the dishwasher was full of water when it tried to start) but after looking at the schematic the float switch is in series with the fill valve and opens the fill valve circuit when the dishwasher fills.

I ran the service diagnostics and the dishwasher fills, washes and drains properly.

Any idea what the problem might be?

You ran the service diagnostic and all functions worked ok so the problem is most likely in the timer itself.

That model has a digital timer.

Try unplugging the dishwasher and wait about a minute, then plug it in again. That should reset the timer.
